Course description:
Direct Access was introduced in UK Dentistry in 2012 to improve access for our patient, pave the way for the progressive model in dentistry. Following this, patients can see DHT without seeing the dentist first. However, the guidelines from GDC is not very clear. And we are still confused on how to manage those patients in general dental practice, what are the legal and the ethical issues surrounding this when seeing these patients the appropriate steps to follow, what should I have in place when seeing these patients, how my practice can support me, what my team member should know if I am going to practice “Direct Access” and what my patient should know before and after they see me?
